**ALL INSTRUCTIONS MANUALS ARE IN THE MIDDLE DRAWER OF THE CABINET NEXT TO THE KITCHEN COUNTER

SMART TV:

The television (both TV’s actually - there is one in the extra bedroom) is relatively straightforward, aka smart. Remote controls for both the TV and the sound bar are in the basket on the coffee table.

You can watch a range of Italian TV and music channels, as well as a few English language channels or you can log-in to watch Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, etc.

AIR-CONDITIONING:

The air-conditioning unit (Unico) is just under the television in the living room. It cools the living room very quickly, then goes on to cool the rest of the apartment. Please turn the unit off when going to sleep at night. You can sleep with the windows open, if you’d like, as there is a wonderful cross-breeze from having windows open on both sides of the apartment. The remote control for the unit is in the green bag on the shelf near the corner chair.

HEATING:

IMPORTANT!! Heating units in Lucca can ONLY be used from November 1 - April 15 (do not try to turn them on outside of those dates, as they will not work). And, they can only be used 8 hours per day.

Now, with all of that said, here is how to use them …

There is a knob in the top corner of each of the units. Turn the knob counterclockwise. When using the heaters, please make sure all of the windows and doors are closed and there is nothing blocking the unit. They are very efficient and heat the apartment quickly.

When you leave the apartment … or, before going to bed … make sure all of the heaters are turned off.

**NOTE: If you are staying in the apartment anytime from April 16 - October 31 and you need heat, the air conditioning unit is also a heater. The heat will start in the living room, but it will radiate throughout the apartment. As with the radiator heaters, do not leave this unit on when leaving the apartment or when going to sleep.

WINDOWS & DOORS:

These are pretty self explanatory. We open all of the inside shutters every morning to let the morning sunshine in … it’s just beautiful!

And, when all of the inside shutters are closed at night, it keeps the apartment dark and helps with a good nights sleep.

OUTSIDE (GREEN) SHUTTERS:

MOSQUITO SCREENS:

These are the screens on all of the windows.

You don’t have to have these pulled down (the view is better without them), but know that there are lots of mosquitos in Italy and these screens are made to keep them out when the windows are open.

P.S. There is bug repellent on the shelf behind the bathroom door in the master bedroom, if needed.

When pulling the screens down and attaching them to the brackets on the window sill, please do so carefully.

These are pretty self explanatory as well. We almost always have these shutters open.

When you do open them, make sure you fasten them to the “hooks” attached to the building so they do not blow closed ~ except for the 2 big shutter doors on the terrace. Those can just stay propped open.

DINING ROOM TABLE:

The square dining room table folds out and doubles in size, if needed. Look for the metal latch on the side. Then, the table must be slid to one side and folded open.
